The Ferment Fest
Welcome to Ferment Fest, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and democratizing fermentation in all its forms.
The festival aims to make fermentation accessible to all, while highlighting local artisans and celebrating living cultures.
Over several days, artisans, chefs, producers, experts, and enthusiasts come together to share their knowledge and showcase the richness of fermentation traditions from here and around the world. Ferment Fest highlights a vibrant ecosystem where innovation, heritage, and creativity meet.
Through its exhibitors, free conferences, hands-on workshops, culinary events, and a dedicated educational week for children, the festival offers an immersive experience where science, culture, and pleasure intersect.
Beyond the festival, Ferment Fest is committed to offering free workshops throughout the year to various organizations and communities, helping to share fermentation knowledge and make it accessible to a wider audience.
Rooted in public markets—particularly Jean-Talon Market in Montreal and now the Grand Marché de Québec—the festival creates a direct connection between producers, artisans, and the public, fostering a deeper understanding of our food and where it comes from.
With a focus on sustainability, the festival also promotes practices that value food, reduce waste, and encourage a more conscious and respectful relationship with our environment.
More than an event, Ferment Fest is a movement that invites people to reconnect with the living world, explore new flavors, and transform their relationship with food and fermentation.
